Venari Partners is thrilled to have added to our team by welcomingSpencer Tarrantas Principal Finance Consultant. He will lead our CFO Advisory and Financial Transformation practice, working cross-sector to appoint senior finance leaders across a range of functions and industries.
Spencer joined Venari Partners last month, and now that he’s had some time to settle in, we wanted to give our network a comprehensive introduction to his background and what he will be working on.
Spencer has a strong commercial mindset, which was shaped long before he began his career in finance executive search. Prior to working in recruitment, he spent over a decade in the automotive sector working in commercial finance, sales, and operations. Spencer was a general manager, leading large-scale operations and managing multimillion-pound P&Ls for theFord Motor Company. Outside of this he also created a few smaller award-winning independent retail businesses, which he has since sold to focus on executive search.
His hands-on experience has certainly been an advantage to his work in talent solutions, where he has been helping companies to source senior finance leaders for well over a decade. Initially, Spencer’s work in executive search was primarily focused on accounting roles prior to his work with CFOs and financial transformation across the globe, with countless placements in territories including the US, the Middle East, Europe, and the UK. He has also worked on interim appointments and operational transformation projects for clients across the UK and Ireland. Spencer’s real-world knowledge and general manager’s perspective help him connect and develop meaningful relationships with senior leaders.
Spencer is proud to work cross-industry in sector-agnostic fashion. He has placed finance talent across aviation, transport, and tech, to name just a few – though in recent years his true focus has been on the life sciences sector. It’s likely that this will form much of his work at Venari Partners, and we’re delighted to have added his skillset to our already strong offering in this space.
‘My knowledge base is broad, though the life sciences industry has been of particular interest to me of late,’ Spencer says. ‘It is endlessly fascinating: so cutting-edge and dynamic that there’s always something new happening. With over 20 years of experience, Spencer leads the CFO and Finance Transformation practice at Venari Partners, partnering with CFOs, investors, and transformation leaders to build high-performing finance teams and deliver complex change programmes. He specialises in executive search and interim appointments across capital-intensive sectors, including life sciences, aviation, transport, infrastructure, industrials, and FMCG. Before moving into executive search, Spencer spent over a decade in general management, commercial and operational finance roles within the automotive and retail sectors, building and leading high performing teams, managing multi-million valued P&Ls and driving profitability through strategic improvements. He has also built and sold independent businesses, bringing a practical, entrepreneurial mindset to every client engagement. Based in Oxford with his young family, Spencer splits his time between London and international travel to meet clients and build long-term partnerships. Outside of work, he’s passionate about fitness, boxing, and classic cars, with a small collection of modern classics he enjoys tinkering with when he’s not busy being a dad to his two little girls.
